    Water Pump?

    Hi guys!
    Ive got a 01 1.6L Golf.
I have noticed a water/coolant puddle under my car the past few weeks and have had to top it up. Today I had it diagnosed as being my water pump -_- How much should I be prepared to pay? Does $750 sound about right or can I get it fixed cheaper? i know water pump and timing belt has to be done at the same time to avoid future problems.
Is there any other places where water can leak from as being a common place? I don't really want to be forking out my savings per say haha.. i know that its probably the pump but would rather check it over before i go ahead.

Its leaking when cold. After going down to my local radiator shop, the mechanic said that the seal on the inside has 'gone' where it expands when hot (no leak), and shrinks when cold (leak), which is why i find a puddle over night.

SA guys do you recommend any places to get this fixed?

Car has 130kms and the water pump/timing belt was last replaced at about 90k in late 2010.

Im grateful for any help! Cheers Nathan

Maybe take it to Volksfactory at Holden Hill and get them to have a quick look. Other options are German Auto at Melrose Park. I think I was slugged about $700 odd when I had mine done with a few other things - will see if I can find the receipt to confirm.

Doesn't seem like it lasted very long... If you're half savvy with a spanner I'd recommend an ecs kit and 10 hours of your time .... Its not that hard to be honest

Thanks guys! I've been quoted $600 from my regular mechanic so if the problem continues to get worse I know where to get it fixed cheaply without having to worry about it myself Water Pump?
Leigh being a 1.6 I don't think ECS sell a kit to fit considering the US never received that engine?

The kits aren't that dear locally.

Try Miro at MRL Automotive. He's 'Transporter' on here.

Umai that's parts and labour without having to worry about anything. A big jump from my first quote of $1100 by another mechanic. My mechanic said its about $350 in parts? (If that sounds about right)

The leak has seemed to settle a bit the past week and a bit so I'll just have to play it by ear. If it gets more consistent I'll have to get it fixed Water Pump?

well its a full timing belt job if its like the mk4 gti..
so i paid $330 for everything using imparts in Brisbane and did the work myself. wasn't too hard, just fiddly with the whole engine mount and chassis rail being right where you need your hands to fit..
