    Car: VW Bora V6 4motion
    Wheels: Audi TT (8J)
    Front: 17x8.5 et25 (after 25mm adapter) 225/45/17
    Rear: 17x8.5 et20 (after 30mm adapter) 225/45/17
    Fenders Rolled: Yes
    Fenders Pulled: Rears only
    Camber: Natural 4motion rear camber
Suspension: KW V1 with rear perches and adjusters removed
Notes: I reckon 18" is the perfect size for Mk4s, but the extra inch of rubber on 17" is the best compromise for my daily baby-mobile. Would also love a bit of rake...

    Will get better pics..

    VWW Official MKIV Wheel Q&A

Thanks bro! Yeah old tyres were gone so had to replace them. I'm actually happy with how these turned out.

Does anyone know a link where i can find a formula to get the rigth adapter size. I see here all final offsets but how do i know what size adapter to use. I drive a mk4 vr6 jetta. Original wheels are 15x7 35mm offset and am getting some17x8 with 52 offset. I need to find out how to calculate for adapters thickness. Thanks in advance for any help.

Use the offset calculator to work out how you want the new wheels to sit (eg 8et35) then work out the wheels orginal offset (52) minus your proposed one (35), 52-35 = 17mm adapter

Only one doubt. About the diference of width of wheel....original is 7 inch new ones 8 inch....do i have to add that one inch of difference to the 17mm?

Use that, ignoring the fact u are using the adapters, adjust the new wheel offset to suit the final position you want.
Then as the post above minus the wheels desired offset from its actual specs and that will give you the adapter width.

On a stock height or slightly lowered mk4 I'd suggest a final spec of 8et30 or 8et35f and 8et25 or 30r.
So your going to want 17 or 22mm for the front, and 22 or 27mm rear.

    Hi Guys,

I'm tossing up between two sets of wheels to suit a set of 235/40/18 tires I've been given.

    1st set:
    18x8 5x100 30mm offset front
    18x9 5x100 30mm offset rear

    2nd set:
    18x8 5x100 35mm offset all round

Will be going on a Bora 4-motion, running stock suspension, I'm looking at upgrading to coilovers pretty soon.

Just wondering if either of these combos work with the tires i have?

Both should work, obviously depending on how low you plan on going.

Ok great, will the 18x8 still work if there 40et?. Im not planning on super low as its a daily driver, i was looking at a set of FK AK's or similar until i can afford something better.
