Lightbulb VWW Official MKIV Wheel Q&A

Basically I thought I would make a thread that assists in fitting wheels to a mk4.
We have a few random threads floating around but some of the info is misleading/missing.
I currently contribute to a few over seas ones and they work well most of the time if people take a step back and learn the basics, it makes it very easy for others to help out and answer any questions.

I want to include guide to wheels, index of other fitments done in AUS, and then allow for people to ask questions or post up there own so I can add them to the library/index.
This is not just for 'fitted/stanced' cars, it needs everything from stock wheels and stock heights

I will be taking some information from other sites, but if we can keep the library to Aussie mk4s itll be very helpful.

In typical 'tex fashion. VWW, myself, and anyone else who posted in this thread are not responsible for anything (broken arches, defects, loss of income etc). While I hope none of this happens, this is a guide to be used at your own discretion and common sense.

Yeh, meant to be there. The front is just stock camber where as the rear has -1 degree camber.

    Front: 17x9 et20 (after 15mm adapter) 205/45/17
    Rear: 17x9.5 et19 (after 20mm adapter) 215/45/17
Arch height to ground Front: 23.5"
Arch height to ground Rear: 24.25"
    Fenders Rolled: Front only
    Fenders Pulled: No
Camber: Front No / 1deg extra in rear (2.5deg in total)
Comments: Less (none!!!) rubbing then the teledials due to more space on inside of wheel.
want it a good .5" lower all round, but need to notch the front drivers side or get a smaller driveshaft first. Drivers side only has 5-7mm between the shaft and chassis, and Id say 3mm of that is because of self notch

    more pics soon

    Rear: 16x6.5et43 205/55/16
Arch height to ground Front: unknown subframe and engine cover jsut cleared 100mm from the ground in the first photos
Arch height to ground Rear: unknown
    Fenders Rolled: no
    Fenders Pulled: No
    Camber: No
Comments: Clearing a defect, excuse the random toccata on the drivers rear...

    in later photos lowered more.

More pics later on, subframe approx 60mm off the deck on flat ground. passenger side coilover adjuster clears the tyre by 1-2mm so no more lows possible without smaller tyres or better offsets

    VWW Official MKIV Wheel Q&A

Thanks bro! Yeah old tyres were gone so had to replace them. I'm actually happy with how these turned out.

Does anyone know a link where i can find a formula to get the rigth adapter size. I see here all final offsets but how do i know what size adapter to use. I drive a mk4 vr6 jetta. Original wheels are 15x7 35mm offset and am getting some17x8 with 52 offset. I need to find out how to calculate for adapters thickness. Thanks in advance for any help.

Use the offset calculator to work out how you want the new wheels to sit (eg 8et35) then work out the wheels orginal offset (52) minus your proposed one (35), 52-35 = 17mm adapter
