Rolling diameter wise - it's practically the same as the factory setup. I currently have bora stockies with 225/55r16 tyres and the rolling diameter of a 215/45r18 works out to be about 2.5mm less.

Is it to do with the fact that the tyre is too wide and high and slams into the suspension/bodywork ?

I'm at a bit of a crossroad - 225/40r18 for right load rating but very pretty average look or go for a sweet looking stretch at 215/40 and risk the lower load rating >.<

I really am whoring out this thread. Dylan you must get a shiver down your spine when you seen I've posted AGAIN. *Sigh*

Still loving the concave look and also have come across some Avant Garde M310's that are very similar in appearance to the Miro111's but they're made with forged aluminium and are meant to be better quality built than the Miro's.

The M310's come in a nice variety of sizes. All are ET30, and for 18" they have widths of 8",8.5",9",& 9.5".

The trick is finding a retailer AND more importantly; working out which width rim would I want to ensure wheels don't stick out too much past the guards (on the line or tucked under would be perfect).

Any suggestions on which width would be best?

    225/45/17
    225/40/18 (r32)

don't stress, its the idea of this thread. I got sick of answering the same questions over and over via PMs, atleast if its here in public space its easier for other people to research and make the decision for themselves.

those sizes you have listed. Personally if it was for my car and daily when I was on coils id go the 8.5et30 and 9et30 option (what I ran on the dials for 90% of the time I had them on the car. I ran a 215/40 up front and 225/40 out back
Now, differences will be how you have your car set up. lows being the first variable, and the rear of the 4mo being the second.

Front if you had it similar height to me the 215/40 would be best bet. if it was any higher id look at trying to get a 225/40 under there.
Rear, being your rear end track is narrower you might be able to get away with a 9.5et30 (only 6mm more outwards then the 9et30 option) and still keep it inside the guards. If you plan on adding camber arms and straightening out the camber I believe itll become out a fair bit more. (refer to Trickysimons pictures running 18x9.5et40 with camber arms fixing it the neg camber)

Best bet is to get the height of the car and the camber setup as you will want it finally, then measure from there

I will be investing in a set of camber adjustable arms. Especially since I'd like to go lower. But before I go low, I'll need to get tension adjustable coilovers as my car compresses too much over driveways/speedhumps and i'm finding the back exhaust tips smashing against my expensive Oettinger rear valance (already has 3 massive cracks around the exhaust).

Back to getting a set of the overly commom Miro Type 111's. Not going to get the 9.5" ET40 due to it being a potentially very tight fit.
Planning to get a set of 4x 18x8.5" ET35 wheels instead.

Off my calculation, with an approx 5mm spacer my fitament should be similar looking to this:

    ↑ That is a 18x9 ET30 with 225/40 tyre.

Compared to fitting a 18x8.5" ET35 on my bora 4mo -the wheel in the picture has 1/2" more width (12mm approx), and tucks in 5mm deeper with a ET30 offset versus my ET35, totalling 17mm difference. Dylan you said the rear track of the 4mo pushes wheels out 10mm more than a standard fwd bora so I'd end up with 7mm deeper than the wheel in the picture. Add a 5mm spacer and we're only talking 2mm's difference.

    Is my thinking right?

Thanks again everyone for your help! Legends!

    Certainly seems so :/

I was given them as stock wheels to use by the previous owner's mechanic. Doing some quick checks and my 225/55r16's actually have increased my RD to beyond 3% compared to the factory fitted tyres.
    Damn. That was unexpected.

4mo track is NARROWER then FWD, so itll be less agressive.

So effectively, the wheel will push out 10mm more towards the guard than for a fwd version Bora?

That would mean no spacer at all.

The 225/40 on a 9" is a nice stretch. The 215/40 would look best but then that old chestnut of load rating rears its ugly head again.
I do have a full set of 215/40 KU31's with 80% tread lying around so might as well make use of them instead of offshelling them for cheap.

Hi guys just after some thoughts on a set of wheels I've found and was wondering if they will fit my MK4 1.6L Golf.
    They're Lenso LS5 19x8 in Hyperblack with a 5x100 Stud Pattern and +42 offset.
I found them today and they are at a price that is worth thinking about.
Yes i also know i will capture some unwanted attention with these being a p plater.
Lowering will be on the agenda in the near future.

Heres the fitment details of what i can gather.. with me currently running stock 14s at stock height.

    Cheers,
    Nathan

They'll fit on the car Nathan, but not sure if they'll clear coilovers (if you're running them) with that offset. Also, the ride on 19's can be a nightmare and unless the car is low they can look silly big
