is it grinding the gears when rolling and trying to engage or ??
sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging which could be clutch fork bent/broken? broken fingers on the clutch ? low fluid in the clutch system?
best of luck mate!
how many km on it?
Hi guys,
Today as I was driving my bora and as I stopped off at the shops and came back to my car, I put it into reverse I heard a thump noise from my gear box area. I took it out off reverse and tried again the same thump noise occurred so I drove out wanting to get my car home asap. About 50m down the road I noticed the car was getting hard to put into and out of gears and eventually I couldn't change gears, I pulled over checked under the bonnet didn't notice any leaks from the master or slave cylinder I tried putting it back into gear and it wouldn't let me. Eventually it eased up and I limped the car home I noticed when I got home and had the car off and in gear it will go into all gears without a problem as soon as to car is turned on it wont engage into no gears I have tried leaving it in gear with the clutch engaged and turning it on, it seems like the car wants to jump forward and stall any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Could it be the dog bone mount has failed?

Manual MY12 RB Golf R | Bluefin Stg2 | Milltek turbo-back
it just stops the engine from rocking back and forth? wouldn't think it would stop it shifting gears?
it cant even be put into gear when the car is running only gear it will go into when running is reverse.. on the bora does are the break and clutch master together? its only got 110000
also when I leave it in gear and start it I cant pull it out of gear without turning off the car and it feels like it wants to stall
Looks like either the clutch pressure plate, fork or hydraulic system has failed. Also check the pedal and make sure the weld hasn't let go that holds the master cylinder's rod in. If it has let go then you won't be releasing the clutch.
If externally it looks ok you would need to remove the gearbox for clutch inspection...VDUB..
