Im looking at replacing the headlight lenses on my v6 4motion and was wondering if anyone has purchased similar to these from china.Ive tried to restore the original ones with no success so my next option is these or similar...

Ive fould some from the US which are glass rather than plastic for $140 delivered but am trying to save a few quid..

I don't like the idea of these. Cheap plastics that'll probably break the minute a small stone is flung at it.

Have you considered trying to polish up your current headlights ? I hit mine with a rotary buffer and some lightly abrasive polish and it helped heaps. I need to up the anti on my polish to finish the job as she's still a bit yellow but it's leaps and bounds better than it was.

as said RVDD said you can achieve a similar effect with polish, mine were really bad.

I removed the headlights and sanded them with 800 1200 then 1500 wet and dry sandpaper till they were perfectly smooth..i then used a scuff pad to score the surface prior to then next stage..i then cleaned the surface with isopropyl solution at this time they were warm as i warmed them up with a heat gun ... and then sprayed them with clear adhesion primer...as soon as i sprayed the surface it started to crack....i tried the same procedure with straight laquer and the same thing happened...ive sanded them back and tried the same procedure a few times and the same thing happens....what am i doing wrong..ive watched videos and searched all over the net to get the ideas above..im sick of rubbing them down and was looking at an easier option...help would be appreciated..

If you were going to replace the headlights, it would probably be worth going glass lenses, rather than the plastics.

Not affected by UV and don't require upkeep/polishing. I saw some on VX Tuning for a decent price, and they're also on ECS.

If worried about the stone chips/crack etc on the glass, you can go lense film that sticks on to protect.

For plastic headlight lenses, just polish them up like you have (with polishing compound or sanding like you have been (until they are nice and clear), and then use a UV stabiliser to finish. You can get it in a headlight lense repair kit. The lense repair kits are usually pretty weak in the polishing compound department (its hard to do damage with them) but the UV stabiliser is the bit you want.

I definitely would avoid using any kind of lacquer on them - anything with petroleum solvents will penetrate the pores and cause problems.

my mistake it is called clear adhesion primer...the american term where i saw it was called adhesion promoter....ive edited my post.
..what is this uv stabiliser?
ive used these kits before and they contain a wipe which you apply to the lens is this what that is ?can you purchase uv stabiliser by itself not in a kit..

Yes the stabiliser is usually on a wipe. There's often the stabiliser and a hardener.
