    VR6 4Motion

    Hey all,
New to the forum and looking to buy a vr6 of some description.

Noticed this on carsales and saw that a few of the guys knew about it, apparently it's been for sale for a fair while.

2001 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 4MOTION MARK 4 Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au

    Has anyone checked it out?
Any reason its been for sale for (as far as I can gather) 2 years with no buyers?

Biggest reason would be that it's not an Australian delivered car (or if the chassis is, it wasn't delivered with that engine), and thus insurance may be an issue.

Parts would not be an issue at all (given the chassis was released here, and the engine in the Bora V6 4Motion).

i reckon the main reason is that the guy wanted 25K for it back in the day, now its down to a realistic price

It's a nice car - but for that kind of money there are just too many other options out there. A mk4 GTI with a chip can be had for that kind of money or less and will knock the socks off it. Unique - yes it sure is but an R32 is not much more and also a much better spec'd car.

Whats the difference between this and an r32? Aside from the obvious, engine, body kit, interior.

Suspension, brakes, HID headlamps, that'd be about it.

R32 suspension probably a bit tighter, R32 brakes bigger at the front, all Aus delivered R32s came with HID headlamps.

Wouldn't you get much better value just buying a Bora?

Bora should be much better value than an R32, I got mine at 50% the price of the only R32 that was for sale.
Get most of the performance of the R32 at a significantly lower cost getting a bora + a couple of mods.

If you could get that golf down to ~15k, would be a decent buy I think.
