Secondly, any reason on the low dyno reading? I thought it would be higher than that given the mods done to the car.
The car we imported is getting filmed but we have had quite a bit to do to it. The episode is almost done - just need a few final shots and then it will go live.

106KW was a little disappointing from a dyno point of view but we wanted to give actual dyno figures for comparison because so many people argue that BOVs increase/decrease final power.

The REVO tune has since been updated on the car with newly developed software as there was an issue with the 99/00 model GTIs and ours was running in a kind of semi-safe mode.

i wonder if mine is doing that... (though i've got unitronic not revo)... power went down considerably some time back, i still seem to get the right amount of boost though so not sure. power seems to really die off anywhere over 4500rpm...
do you know more about this 'semi safe' mode? what was it limiting?

This was a REVO specific issue. Long story really but took me a long time to get it sorted out as they had to actually make a new program for the 99/00 models.

Could someone post this up on VWVortex if they're a member?

    Very strange.

Maybe its based on power for the car as i dyno'd my car with 50/50, forge 007p, tt, stock and the gfb mach 1 (recirc) and i have major varied results. My dyno results chip only was 104 from memory i think? then slowly jumped up to 128/132 without the k03s and now 144 almost with the k03s.

More so i found that actual boost 'held' more with the GFB Recirc than the others. The forge ones are good however dependant on your springs that your using (3 springs avail) that your boost would come in early or later or drop off earlier or drop off later and was pretty annoying as it wasnt linear all the way through ..

however GIAC chip and oettinger chip ive ran and both times i tried both out and found a 3-6kw which is very minimal but actual driving and PSI held was more noticable for me than anything personally.

my 2psi would be use a bailey's or a forge mach 1 recirc personally. if you want sound get an aem intake or similar as it shoots through the intake and echos.. id be happy if my car made no noise actually.

the only thing i have to pick on the mightmods mk4 is that the k&n pod filter sucking air! suprised how little power it makes for the mods that accompanies the chip.

awesome vid tho .. definitely !

For your purpose in this case, the actual figure is entirely irrelevant, and you could simply have replaced it with "1" - the delta between readings (as an absolute and even more importantly, as a percentage) being much more important.

A great video. I almost had tears in my eyes when you started riding the bike with the blowoff valve.

Have you checked that your boost isn't falling away at higher revs (as it did with the stock DV in the MM video)?

The other thing I'd be checking is fuel path (no clogging/reduction in ability to flow fuel into the engine) - if that's happening, the ECU will detect the car leaning out (or will detect the start of pre-detonation) and will slow things down to ensure there's no damage to the engine).

I did wonder about that too - boxing it in with a CAI would potentially increase the power - have you ever measured air intake temps pre/post intercooler?

Ah that old chestnut is almost as controversial as the BOV but we will put that one to bed in a future episode...
