I got the car for a reasonable price so I have some cash to be able to hopefully get rid of the problem. So far I havent wasted any money because all the parts where replaced in an effort to correct the problem needed replacing. But yeah im looking at taking the alternator a electrition to have it refurbished instead of replaced. But if there is moisture in the coil packs im willing to replace them.

Get it diagnosed properly before you start spending. Coil packs are way cheaper than alternators. Take it to European cars in Wickham. They will do it as professionally and cheaply as anyone.

I doubt your mech would be fitting a new alternator. I always found it easier (due to all the different fitments on the same car) to send the existing alternator to the AutoElec for a rebuild & upgrade. He used to fit better diode packs & could boost the output a bit. Came back better than new.

you'll note i was talking in the past tense. I haven't done commercial work in over 20 years. I'd think my sparky was 6 foot under by now as he was pretty old back then.

Try searching for "Bosch Service >your area<" and see what comes back.

Yes, I know them well. You will get good service at a fair price. Head mechanic is Mercedes factory trained.
