Unhappy Urgent help! Golf gti mk4 problem!

    Hi all,

My car has a massive problem, the 3rd spark plug compartment on the rocket cover area isnt giving out spark.... like say when you turn on the engine and pull out one of the spark plug leads, the car should act sluggish right? all does what i just said except one of them... The mechanic asked me if the Module or the ECU sends signal to the spark plugs. Can anyone answer that?

I already replace new spark plugs, new rocket cover gasket (due to the old one is hard and start to leak oil).

Or has anyone come across this problem before? Please Help >< car has been in the mechanic for a week already and i really need it running for uni....

The mechanic said that if its the Module, it would cost around $300 - $450 but if its the ECU, it will cost over $1000.......

Is there an alternative way to fix this problem like buy a second hand ecu or module?

    Any help is appreciated guys

The box on top of the spark plug is a coil pack. These sometimes break.
It sounds like your mechanic is not too experienced with your car. I'd suggest a VW specialist, who would have fixed this in no time at all.

sorry the coil pack was swapped around to see if the coilpack is broken but it wasnt... its only on that particular section which was the third to the right spark plug compartment....

Im located in Liverpool which is in NSW, is there a good local VW specialist around here?

It'll be the ignition module in the side of the airbox. These quit ALL the time.

Where are you. You should put it in your location, no one is going to come knocking on your door and it makes it so easy to advise servicing options.

If you're in Sydney, definitely call Matt White at Camden GTI in Campbelltown.
