Just servicing one of my nice customers GTI this morning. Found this defective rear brake hose. Get them checked now people for everyones sake!

This is nothing new . Check the front of mk3 golfs , crimp the line and you will start seeing cracks appear . Ive had 1 car come in with brake fluid starting to seep from one of these cracks . These kind of checks are the difference between a good mechanic and an average one . Well spotted though , especially on a mk4
Cheers Bug racer. Mainly pointing it out for the benefit of others. Yes, mk3 fronts and also mk2s go where the rubber retaining loop attaches to the strut body.
I have heard of mk4 rear probs but this is the first that I have seen. About $60 each, genuine but a lot cheaper than a life,eh?! 2003 model too.

Similar Brackie but don't worry, the mk5s shouldn't have any problems there for a while. I have never had to replace a mk1 rear hose yet.

how many k's on it ?
81,000 kms. Sound about right?

Take it to VW . Its a safety issue , especially with such low km
