Air leaks, is the throttle cable over tight or hooked around something?
Hi all,
Changed the coolant today and replaced a few hoses and a housing on my 1.8T and now since then it has been idling at 1200-1500rpm and wont change.
Any idea's?
Cheers

Checked all that. I have spent the best part of the afternoon going over every detail :/
Only thing I can think of is removed the battery and air filter to get to a few things. Does something need to be done after disconnecting the battery?
Also heard that an airlock can cause this problem.

Air around the temp sender might do it. Try lifting it out of the housing to see if there's water around it. Also, try turning the ignition on and waiting a minute before starting the engine. Listen for the throttle body aligning itself.

What hoses did you change and wherabouts, sounds like secondary air after the TB. Letting the throttle do its thing doesnt alter anything, itll do what it has to re base settings, if it needs realigining it need to be adapted. But if it was ok then it should still be ok. I would say totally unrelated, more a secondary air issue mate, if its that bad it should be audible in the engine bay when idling. If it was cool before you touched it its introduced unless you are super unlucky. What and where did you do hoses?

I changed the upper radiator hose and the housing were the coolant sensor sits, plus the thermostat. I removed the airbox and battery to tidy a few things up a bit and I can't hear any other noises like an air leak coming.
Edit: car drives fine, no hesitation or loss of power

Well turns out while I was fiddling around removing the battery and airbox, I must have hit the accelerator cable and the black cover had broken and was putting pressure on the cable...
Thanks for everyone's help
