Turbo intake pipe install
Hey everyone,
I attempted installing an APR turbo intake pipe today, and with much swearing and frustrating I have it 'installed' but i have some questions.
The pipe would start completely flush with the turbo, and as I would start to tighten the pipe, it would slowly creep away. At the moment its about 6/8ths on the turbo and tightened as much as I could.
Secondly, the god damn vacuum hose is about 3/4's on and there is no way I could tighten the clamp around it. How on earth are you expected to do this, there is not enough room to fit anything in there. The vacuum hose connector is a ribbed metal fitting, so its over all the ribbed bits.
So... does this sound like a standard install, or a dodgy one?
Should the pipe be flush 100% and should i have a clamp around the vaccum hose? (even thou i have no idea how to do it)
Anyone else have dramas with the install?
Should I take it to a mechanic? or will they do they same as me?
Thanks,
-
I installed a FORGE SAMCO variant and whilst it was a bitch to get on, you need to make sure theres no oil on your turbo so it will hold as you tighten it up. get under the car so you can hold the TIP in place whilst you tighten it. As for the vacuum hose connector, if its the same as mine, i used a hose clamp.

RE: Turbo intake pipe install
I was under the car but there was only room for 1 hand with a screwdriver, I couldn't get the other in to hold the pipe.
When did you attach the vacuum pipe? Before the pipe was fitted? Or after it was attached to the turbo? The problem with the Apr pipe is the vacuum pipe on the tip is too long. So it just puts it in an impossible location to hose clamp.
I might try to attach it prior to fitting the tip...

Thanks for the advice Leigh.
I cleaned up the pipe and turbo inlet of any oil and this time the pipe just stayed there while i screwed it on. Took all of 15 minutes
I attached the vacuum pipe before feedingthe tip to the turbo inlet aswell, So that is clamped nice and tight.
