    Angry turbo boost pressure sensor

after spending $1000.00 at my local sh**house mechanic, he gave me the car back with a new coolant temp sensor, however he tells me that the reason my 02 GTI is running bad is due to a faulty turbo boost sensor. He says that one is causing a fault in the other, and that there are no turbo pressure switches available in australia??????

    Sound right?

anyone else had this problem, is it still ok to drive????

    any help appreciated

What's he mean by the "Turbo Pressure switch"? I think he must mean the N75 valve (Wastegate Regulator). I find it hard to believe there's none available in Australia , have you checked with a VW dealer? Audi dealers would also carry the same part I'd guess. If he doesn't know the correct name for it you probably should find a VW mechanic.

There has to be a specialist nearby that can give you a better diagnosis. Or someone with VAG-COM.

If you get the fault code and check with google what it means, you'll be more than half way to making your car work again.

If the car starts and drives, even slowly, then I would say it's ok to drive. I wouldn't go far though until you get to the bottom of things.

MKIV GTI's don't have a boost sensor - no wonder its playing up!

I Would be inclined to get it to Volkspower in Burwood (no idea how far from you they are) - they are well versed in turbo VW's

The poster said "faulty turbo boost sensor" in an 02' GTI - and clearly - they don't have one.

If you spend the time to read the post correctly you would have seen that - or do you suggest the poster just runs out & buys a thrust sensor first for $291.35+?

i thought that none of the aussie mk4 gti's had the map sensor on the intercooler wich is why they make blanking plates for them, so if you get a eurojet fmic or smic we can black the whole where the sensor goes..... could be wrong has happened once...
mk4 the mods begin for round 2 hahahha
