My mate has a mustang which got hit a few nights ago and he told me something very interesting I didn't know...you apparently can't match metallic paint.

How is your bumper going to be matched if this is true? :S

Whilst I'm nowhere near sure, I think it depends on the metallicness and the way it's been painted.

Because this is an entire panel the whole panel will be resprayed. Also Deep Blue Pearl (DBP) has a specific paint code. Your mate may have some custom metallic paint which will be very difficult to match.

I know when Dad's old VT commodore had the bumper damaged in an accident it had a much more speckley metallic paint so to speak and they got that to match fine due it also being a specific Holden colour. It was bloody expensive that one though!

Also quozl on here pranged his rear bumper during a targa rally in his R and from memory you can't tell at all that a respray has been done.

I'm hoping everything will be alright (fingers crossed).

    Cheers,
    Trent

    They can be very difficult.

This is one reason that whilst you could buy a Ford Falcon in a deep metallic black/purple colour, you couldn't buy an FPV vehicle in the same colour - FPV fitted and painted their own front/rear bumpers, and couldn't match the metallic from the Ford factory.
    Nothing to see here...

Also to help anyone out there searching for the the paint code for DBP, the codes are as follows:
    The spray part: #LLS-0P6-B5R
    Touch up stick part: #LST-0P2-B5R
    Cheers,
