Especially given that VW admitted that they dropped the quality ball on the MkV in comparison to the MkIV especially when it came to the interior (not saying this is the case for all MkVs or all MkIVs though).

Oh and wouldn't a fully optioned MkV R have Recaros? That one doesn't look to have them.

I think the general quality of the interior materials (plastics in particular) went down a notch with the Mk5 when compared to the Mk4.

Regarding seats in the Mk5 R32, there were two options beyond the standard leather - either Recaros or electric seats with memory function.
    Nothing to see here...

Yeah but he is reluctant to buy one, i'm trying to convince him. And yeah i noticed from sitting in my mates MKIV R32 to sitting in a few other MKV R32's the interior looks a bit more tacky in the MKV. None the less, i still want one. Which one would you guys prefer to have, and MKIV or a MKV?

The Recaros did not get electric lumbar support adjustment.

    The standard .:R seats did.

IMHO there was no "memory function" for any of the seats

I agree the interior could have been a bit more refined in the mk5 compared to Audi, but still looks more modern and I'll take the new chasis and better brakes of the Mk5 over the mk4, plus all the newer gadgetry.

It's just the unexpected repairs i hate with second hand cars, vs budgeting and repayments etc. Although hopefully this can be minimised with proper pre-purchase checks, but i sweared never to buy a Euro that was more than ~4 years old again. Mind you could have been the previous owner of an Audi I bought that had let it get run down towards the end before he was going to trade it in.

The fact is after 100,000km things will need replacing but as long as you find a good mechanic and dont go to the dealer should be ok.
