    track day wheels

guys im tracking soon...just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with different wheels...with their golf.

im up for new tyres now and was thinking
bridgstone potenza RE55s semi slicks on the stock gti wheels 205/16" ( for the track)

and for everyday drive/cruising Hankook RSZ212 on the 18"s

my main concern is, are the stock 205/16" on a semi slick good enough for the track. or should i be going with somthing a little wider and larger with a lower profile? i.e. light weight enkei rims.

    cheers
    Francesco

You could use a lower profile wheel on the stock rims (wouldn't squirm as much, car be a little quicker) but your speedo will be out.

I would use 17's on the track. Accompanied with low profiles it would keep the speedo close to stock and they would be better than 18's

Go for the lightest wheels you have.
