Great that she was able to call you, but bad news about the damage.

I hope everything gets repaired speedily so you're not too inconvenienced.

    Hi Tommy,

I have a frankenturbo on the way and I was wondering how your side mount intercoolers working out for you? Is it enough? And sorry if its already been posted but what boost are you running?

I did logging on the side mount with the standard ko3 turbo + stage 1 tune and pretty much it is good enough for street driving with the occasional overtaking at full boost. If your planning on taking your car to the track or the drags, then it really is useless. It heat soaks and your car will definitely lose power.

I was changing gears at 6000rpm at full boost and at 6000rpm 3rd gear intake temps were 62 degrees (ambient was 27 degrees).

With your turbos, you would be generating a fair amount of heat. You might even have higher temps.

We did plenty of street logging on this car on a very warm day. Heat soak was not a problem at all.
Whilst at the lights intake temps were getting close to 50 degrees once moving the car managed to shed the heat within seconds. 3rd gear pulls at 22psi saw intake temps not too far off ambient high in the rev range.

We are in Melbourne though. It is possible to get different results in different climates.

Did you happen to keep the log data? I would love to see it!

Thanks for for the info Sirocco and Tim.

I ended up buying an absolute monstrosity of a fmic that Gav recommended. Both pipes are on the same side so it can hook up to the stock piping pretty easy.

I should of held off until I saw your responses as I would have preferred not to have a inter cooler visible on the car.
