    Hey Hawk...

I'm liking the effect. What brand of tinting did Solar Tint use?

Also, I have heard that the glass in the MkV knocks out about 15% (athermic?) - so assume that 20% is the max I could go before hitting the 35% barrier (in Qld).

Also, I have heard that there is now a non-metallic tint for rear-windows that won't fade or go purple like the traditional dye-based ones. I don't want to stuff the radio reception since the antenna is in the back window. Can anyone advise details?

It's listed on the warranty card as "Metalised" in black

I think I would like a silver reflective to go with my silver but it might look to overdone.

I had this put on the old car by Tint-a-Car in 1995. Looked as good 12 years later as the day it was put on.

Unfortunately, I think its too dark to be legal with the new factory tinted windows, hence why I'm looking at the 20%.

i'm trying to decide between the midnight express and formula 1 tint at tint a car. as yet haven't been to any of the other tinters aroudn here yet though

the formula 1 tint almost looks a bit browny greeny though, but i've never seen it on a black car... midnight express is more of a matte black, might match a black car better than other colours...

    *shrugs*
I think I am getting midnight express on my black GTI.

Hey dude, the way that tint percentages work is that the lower percentage tint you have the less light it lets in. Technically, 20% tints should give 20% of light INSIDE the car. So if you really want your car's tint to be legal, and your car windows already have a 15% tint to them, you'll have to get 50%...

Just get 20-30%. You'll still be able to see and people don't really pick it up anyways
