    Tinting a black car

    Hello all…

Has anyone here tinted their black car?
I’m trying to work out what brands people have used, some tint just doesn’t seem to go with black… eg. the bolle tint at tint a car…. Just seems so green…

If anyone has pics of your black car that’d be good too…
    Oh, and preferably legally tinted

    Cheers…

Here is some shots of my Mk3, done by Solar Tint in Wetheril Park. 20% all round. What's legal in Adelaide?

    and from the recent cruise:

    35% just looks too light

35 is the darkest you can go in SA and i think for most of the other states

technically you should also consider if your windows have been slighly darkened from factory as this will effecively push you just over the 3% tint mark

i just got my black gti done a few weeks ago in 35%, but since its 1 in the morning ill post some pics up tomorrow, its in tint a car midnight express, which in my opinion is a nice 'dark' black compared to some of the other brands which have a smokey or reflective look

I have to say I'm not a fan of the reflective tint, but thats just personal preference, especially on a black car. A nice black tint looks best IMHO.

would be very interested in seeing your pictures
i'm trying to decide between the midnight express and formula 1 tint at tint a car. as yet haven't been to any of the other tinters aroudn here yet though

the formula 1 tint almost looks a bit browny greeny though, but i've never seen it on a black car... midnight express is more of a matte black, might match a black car better than other colours...

i had formula one on my old car and although it looked nice, i reckon i prefer the midnight express now that i have had both

i would have to say that the formula one has perhaps a little more heat reduction than the midnight express, however i think im just being paranoid and the difference is probably minimal. formula 1 also has a longer warranty period, but for most people its meanless as they dont keep their car for like 20 years or whatever it is

both the tints are 35% however the midnight express 'looks' darker due to a different colouring pigment, well so the guy at the tint place says anyway. i think the midnight also looks darker to me because the golf has a black interior compared to the light grey on my other car

ill try and get some pics up tonight

Darkest you can "legally" go in most states is 35%. SA might be different though. I had 5% on all rear windows and 15% on the driver and passenger windows on my first cordia. Looked awsome! The 5% is the same tint as limos use. Not so good for driving at night though.

If anyone in Sydney is interested in fairly cheap but quality tint let me know. I know a guy whos done three of my cars and heaps of mates cars. Hes really good and does it from home while you watch. Id have to find his number again, but as i said let me know if your interested. And just for an idea i got my commodore done for $250 all round with 25%. O and he has mirror, gold, patterns etc etc. Whatever you want.
