Tinny engine sound with higher rev's

    Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I have noticed lately a really tinny engine sound when the rev's are above 2-2.5k. It doesn't seem to change if I accelerate hard or normally, the sound is there.
Could this have to do with the air intake?

It's slightly concerning, as it doesn't sound right and am worried it's going to set me back a bit.
The clutch needs replacing shortly, as I can feel it starting to slip, at high end. But I don't think that is related...

    Thoughts/suggestions always appreciated.

FYI- I drive a Golf GTI, 150k on the clock and it's been chipped.

@ McDub- Engine idles fine (a bit high when I first start it up), it's only when I press the accelerator and the revs are over 2-2.5, whether I am standing still or moving.

@ JustCruisn- ALWAYS fill up with 98! Usually from Caltex.

    *bump

    Any thoughts/ideas?

I'm really strapped for cash at the moment, so not wanting to take it to the mechanics unless I absolutely have to.

Has anyone heard of something like this happening or think what it could be?
Car seems to be running fine really, besides the sound, which I am hoping is just paranoia!

Do you have anything you can record the sound with so we can hear it?

OK, sorry for the delay. But I managed to record the sound with my iphone, so it's not the best quality and it's only an audio file, as soon as I had recorded it, I thought to myself, why didn't I just record it in video!?

    So here it is: ...
After spending the past 15 mins trying to attach the file and looking in the FAQ, I still have no idea how to attach!?

    Can someone please assist. Lol

Good question - maybe just grab a video - easier to host I think ... or post the audio to YouTube with a slide and post the link on here.

Is there a way of enabling the attachment posting, that is showing I am not able to post attachments at the bottom of the page?
Or will that still not enable me to attach files from my hard drive?

When I looked in the FAQ it showed how to attach files, but the "manage attachment" option doesn't seem to be available, to me anyway...
