    Thoughts on supercharged mk4 R32

Ive been seriously looking at a mk4 R32 with a VF stage 2 supercharger kit. it also has coilovers, some exhaust work and a few other little things. From the mk4 R32's i have driven, this thing is absolutely fantastic with huge power delivery compared to the standard ones. As far as i know and the owner knows its the only supercharged mk4 in Australia. It has had the kit on for 55,000kms and the car has done 80,000kms. He told me of all the troubles involved with first having it, but says no other major problems in the last 50,000kms.

So what i am asking is whether anyone has heard any horror stories of these cars in the US or anywhere with these kits. Any things i should look out for?Basically id like to just hear everyones ideas thoughts on a car of this spec??

    Cheers

Im certainly not "qualified" to speak but.....

If you have spoken to the owner of the only one in Australia, one would think there aren't really too many answers to be given from here.

From what I can work out, the problem can be the hand of some components, IE the supercharger bracket suiteed to the N/A LHD cars, not EU RHD etc so it was perhaps a custom bracket.

Then the big one, tuning. That was what plagued the HPA turbo R32 for a while and gave it its bad reputation (unfortunately), you will need a guy to tune it properly for Australina climate and fuels. Our ECU's are different too (i believe)

As eluded to earlier, if this fella hasn't had any probs for 50k kms, follow his lead and you should be fine.

He said it has a custom GIAC tune on it. But yea its kind of new territory for me here with this, im a turbo man. I know alot of ppl may not know alot about these but any ones 2cents is worth it.

i personally would go turbo, more tuneable you can upgrade easeir than SC and the performance increase ****s all over the SC kits, end of story
the VF kits are a headache in OZ, a friend of mine has a 24v bora sport with the VF charger kit and hes always getting faults popping up, goes like a raped ape, but id personally go full aftermarket ECU and turbo

you make more power with a turbo, but you need power to make a supercharger work.....

    x2

Though different pulley (smaller = more boost) and immmediate response from idle might be what he wants from the charger.

I would go a GT35R, but thats just me.

Yea i was a little wary of all the faults he said that popped up in the first 5000kms, but i guess they are teething problems. For some reason i would have thought turbos would have more issues. But i guess the valid point is the issue that the kit is not made for the right hand side.......

There is/was also one over in Perth. Owner is a member on here even though they don't post much. I think there was another one in Melbourne too who is a member on here and also doesn't post much. Bought it with the kit on it.

As far as Sw issues/tuning problems for the HPA and VF R32's I emailed Jeff @ C2motorsports since he has custom tuned a few of my cars to include the R32. But also I have a R32 that was ordered from Europe and sent to the Us. I know Jeff has tuned turboed and supercharged R32's in UK,Europe,Canada,Mexico which I though had the same Ecu's as Australia. I will post the answers that I get from Jeff. Cheers Jay
