    Thermo fans staying on

    Hi all,
    I've got a mk4 golf 1.6 and the thermo fans are on constantly from when I start the car and stay on for 15 mins after the car is turned off. Anyone got any idea's? It keep getting a flat battery lol. Also I've just put in an all aluminum water pump and had yo remove the thermostat cos it was faulty so the car isn't even getting warmsao I got no idea why the thermos are even on :s

    That's happened to my mk3, I just replaced the thermo fan relay and all sweet

    I should add mine got water in the relay which caused it to short and blow.

    coolant temp sensor has let go.. replace it and all will be sweet

    Look into the temp sensor and put a new thermostat back in, it is needed to get the engine up to temp. You will use more fuel until it warms up etc.

    I had this problem on my passat and i thought it was the coolant temp sensor behind the engine but my dash instrument was showing the correct temp

    it turned out to be the fan temp/switch which is located at the bottom of the radiator hose, (if your engine is the same set-up as mine)

    have a look, if your have it, unplug it, and if your fans go off, thats your problem
