Ah seriously dude, dont waste your time.

You might get 2 or 3kw out of a chip for the 1.6

Yeah your right there, if you want to free the engine up a bit and want the rev limited moved you can do that as well. The difference in performance is barely noticable. You'd be looking at around 70-100 bucks for the chip on ebay, this greek guy does them and you can ask for any setting you want.

I'd just start saving up money for a turbo VAG car, thats what I'm doing

Same here lol. I have the 1.6 and its not worth doing it up. However alot of cars seem to have trouble keeping up in the twisty parts with me. It boogies if you keep it above 4500RPM like i do when we frash the cars hahaa

Whats the rev limiter set at just out interest? My 2.slow is pretty good above 3000-5000, but absolutely nothing below 2400 or therebouts I must say. It does alot better in the twisty stuff than on the open road thats for sure.

hey check in with Bug_Racer for the best thing to do there. As the others say chip only may do a little bit better but for what its worth or what you are looking for you may need to do a little more for the desired result . I have a 2L had the chip done (GIAC), Cams changed, port work, K&N filter, mid section cut out of the exhaust & airflow work. & yes I have a huge difference very pleased.(I have a mate who use to rally a golf in europe that drove it today & I couldnt wipe the grin off his face guess that my proof!) One thing its $$'s my chip was a lot more than what the others say to start with.
    Good Luck on your mission!

My experience with the 1.6 says CAI and high flow filter and then move to suspension.

The $ on a superchip is better going towards your next car!
