Hi.I changed my oil on the gti and have noticed a very slow leak from the sump plug.Whats my best option for a replacement plug?I,m in Sydney. Also where is everyone getting their oil filters.I chucked a Ryco in but will change it for the recommended one (mann?) when I do my next change.
Thanks

The washer around the sump plug should get changed every service not necessarily the plug itself.
You can get magnetic sump plugs, plus 10 washers from ecs for $30 shiped to your door or there abouts.

I have a few ECS magnetic sump plugs / 10 washer sets left over from a previous GB. I'll do them for $20 shipped anywhere in aust. Got a few sets if anyone else is interested.
PM me for details.

genuine are supplied as a complete plug. Cant change the washer unless you cut it off. And for 5 bucks, not really worth trying to cut it off and find a washer to suit.
Isn't the factory sump plug fitted with an integrated crush washer that means the plug and washer cannot be re-used?
The magnetic plug with 10 copper washers goodfella has on offer is a pretty damn good deal, it would cost about $50 to order the part from ECS and have it shipped to Australia and with the current postage backlog it would take weeks to get here.
Dammit, wish I knew you had some Dave. I ended up buying one from GAP, but it arrived within a week so my oil change wasn't delayed for long.
As for oil filter, I've done a bit of research and I ended up going for the Mann 950/4. It's a big one, but fits perfectly (seal ring is in the same position) and allows the 1.8T to carry a larger capacity of oil.
