    Stubby Antenna

Recently 'upgraded' my antenna to one of the Stubby ones from DubAddiction. Pretty happy with how clean it looks but was concerned when purchasing that it may effect my radio reception. The blurb stated it doesn't and if anything it improves it. Good enough for me.

After doing a lot of driving over the last week i have had some REALLY bad reception in sydney. On the F3 (2km from Pennant Hills Rd) it started crackling on JJJ. Used to only die out at Mt White on sydney channel. And then yesterday driving near Collaroy and in Frenchs Forest it started to crackel badly too.

Has anyone else had this issue? Thinking the looks are not worth having crap radio reception for.

i get poor reception with JJJ in sydney with my sharon stubby antenna, AND with the standard aerial.
you may just be noticing it because you're paying attention to it.
i think it's probably more my pioneer head unit.
IMO, the long antenna is really more important for AM recpetion.
just like tuning the reception on a little radio, for FM, you change the position of the radio, but for AM, you extend and direct the aerial.
not sure if this is true, but i think there is some truth in it.

A couple of people have been unhappy with the reception. It seems to be a bit variable depending on area/stations you listen to/head unit fitted to car. I run one on my MKV around melbourne and the reception is fine for the stations I listen to.

If you are unhappy with your purchase feel free to shoot an email through to sales@dubaddiction.com.au and we can organise the return/refund of your order.

For the record the blurb is as quoted below so I dont know where you got the idea that there was claimed improvements in reception

This is a close replica of the OEM VW sharan stubby antenna. Gives your car a much cleaner look compared to the standard antenna. Around 6.5cm in length and fits most cars that use a 5mm screw down base. No noticeable loss in radio reception in our tests but some areas may offer differing results. ***FREE SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM***

I've run a generic stubby as well as the ECS Sharan replica antenna and haven't had issues with either. The Missus also runs an Autobarn ball tip stubby on her Mazda without any issues.

Sorry Tim wasn't having a go at you or your store. I stand corrected with what i said as well. Was just going off the top of my head with the recollection of what it said.

Fortunately near where i live i don't have issues. I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks though and might revert to the standard one if symptoms persist.

I have a stubby on my Golf, and get horrible AM reception. FM is mostly okay.

I have a stubby antenna, got it off ebay, definitely worse reception on the highway compared to the big one, but it looks alot better, and I listen to my own music most of the time anyway..

I bought a stubby from Tim for our GT TDI. Works a treat in Canberra, and on the highway. Seems to be about the same as the sharkfin on the S3
