    Strange Dash Behaviour

    Hi fellow Watercoolers.

I have a strange issue with my Golf IV Sport's dash. When I switch off the ignition the tacho needle still shows idling RPM even though the car is totally shut down and the key is removed. When I re-start the car the tacho needle rapidly ratchets down then bounces back up to show idling RPM. Also, the clock, trip meter and the central info display have been re-set. Everything else is normal.

Has anyone come across this? I hope its not a faulty instrument cluster.

    Thanks in advance!

Check your earth cable (black / -negative) on the battery is tight and not damaged/loosened

+1 to battery issues/ earthing issues / flat battery or the like - these can cause some pretty funky dash situations.

Checked cable, all tight and good. I'll check the condition of the battery next. If that all checks out there may be an fault with the dash. Thanks for the tip.
