It's about 15-20mmlower than the standard stuff depending on how much the gti springs have sagged. IMO you'd be better off getting some entry level coilovers. You can get JOM ones pretty cheap and people seem to think the ride is okayu
hey guys!
i picked a second hand set of GTI springs and struts a while back, and considering some of my bushes are on the way out thinking about doing a straight swap over.
but i only wanna do the swap over if the GTI suspension is different(lower and/or stiffer) to the GLE.
so does anyone know if the MK4 GTI suspension is lower and stiffer then a GLE? or am i better off buying a new set of springs&struts/coilovers that will be lower/stiffer?
looking at cheapest option too!
thanks

thanks for the help!
guy i got them off said he had only done 130,000kms with them.
so the GTI will ride stiffer aswell then?
also i see alot of FK and JOM fanboys on this forum. pros and cons for both? whats the better product? and rough pricing?
Yeah the gti springs will be a little bit stiffer but by no means are they a stiff spring.
The old GTI springs and struts are probably not worth the effort putting in. They are at the end of their serviceable life and you will be replacing them again soon, especially if you are paying someone to put them in.
Personally I got the Eibach cup springs many moons ago, a bit lower than stock but the got bouncy as the sagged and the struts wore out. Now I have H&R springs and Bilstein springs (thanks Lito) which is 50mm lower than stock and they are nicely matched. Drive ability is a lot better than stock and Eibach. Still there are times when they are annoying on rough roads etc, the extra lows don't like some car park bumps and driveways.
MK4 GTI - Sold
MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.
there is a company that is selling FK Coilovers for $500 shipped to your door in Australia
V-tech Australia
We have FK in our Jetta and its fine, not too hard, not too soft
Had fk streetlines in my old 1.6L and was really happy with them
Quite comfortable, much better than stock suspension and can go very low
The lower you go the less bouncy they are
Imo fk's are better than joms
But either or will be fine
Stay away from hot tuning and all those other ****ty brands
I paid about 400 delivered when I got them last year
I tried looking to buy them for my new mk4 gti when I got it last month but couldn't find them for that price again
I'm currently running bc br coilovers and the difference in quality is very noticeable

If the suspension has 130,000km on it then the springs might be OK but the dampers will be as loose a a $2 hooker.
