Haven't really done anything to the golf for a fair while and haven't bumped this thread up for aaaages. Work has been flat out and not having a driveway or garage doesn't help at all...

But I have received a few parts!

Got some votex rep skirts. Test fitted them today, fitment looks pretty good. One is quite tight - which is the one in the photo test fitted to the car. The other fits pretty much spot on. might need to sand a little bit off each end of the tight one so it doesn't bow in the middle. I don't really understand how they attach underneath the car...I might need to fashion up some sort of bracket. Can someone shed some light there?

Hopefully sometime soon I can get them sprayed. I'm pretty keen to get them on. Makes a fair bit of difference and actually don't think I mind the skirts with just stock valances... What does everyone think?

Also got a gti wheel, Cheers eri_12!!! I plan on having a shot at reupholstering it. Not quite sure what colour/colours I'm going to go with as of yet..

Looking good! Just one suggestion though - some smoked side indicators would look good! So thats why I didnt see your golf when I drove past the other day. Did see a silver one though with oettinger wheels - do you know of that one?

I reckon they look ok with stock valances. Better than I thought they would! I remember reading somewhere a while ago that a bracket was used when installing their skirts...but cant remember where it was so thats not much help!

Here is a link for you re our conversation on side skirts the other day Votex Side skirts - uk-mkivs Mine are the votex ones I'm positive

stock valances and side skirts are fine. makes sooo much difference.
Stu did the same on his bora and it looks sick.

Think you double tape/glue along the length of it, and screws in the ends via the wheel well... but im not sure

generally use a mastic glue for the run of the skirt, and then screws into the wheel well original fixings. might be a good idea to fix the screws of the wheel well into a rubber grommet to help prevent the screw holes cracking

Yeah eri have been driving the jeep most of the time, good timing cuz the mrs hates riding in the golf, haha it's a bit of a rough ride. Yeah fair enough from that thread you linked it seems you do have votex skirts, I don't know why mine are called votex then? The vortex kids say they are the same as 20th skirts.... Confused

Yeah Dylan I reckon it will make a heap of difference, makes the car look a lot lower and wider than it actually is. I may eventually get a 20th front and rear valance. But for now this will do!

Hopefully I will be able to get my friend who's dad owns a bodyworks to help with the skirts. We'll see.

awesome. 20th anni kit front/rear would finish off just perfectly. although the fronts damn low as is? .... gonna slam the compass at any stage

Yeah I do like the 20th rear a lot. But I think if you've got a 20th rear and skirts then you Definitely need a 20th front. which I reckon I will just smash to pieces no doubt. I really want a 4motion front lip I think they look sick on golfs.

I want to lift the compass and put huge spacers and mud runners on it! Mrs, isn't so keen though......

few of the US guys run bigger rear and sides, but keep a stock/4mo front valance.
