    Spare Key Query

    Hi everyone
I have recently purchased a 2002 Bora V5. Unfortunately I only received one key with the car and when I rang Austral Motors they want $470 for a spare!

I have done a search of the site and seen some talk of buying keys off Ebay and having them recoded by a local dealer.

Are there any other options that are less expensive than buying a new key from a local dealer?

    Thanks very much
    Matt

If its anything like the 2002 Audi A4 Key's.. have to tell you mate.. Ebay no go..

I tried it myself... they are very hard to recode.. because they come in different chips and frequency's.. making it very hard to get the right one.. $470 doesn’t sound too bad, is this the OEM Flick key? as I remember Audi wanted something like $800, for my one..

i got a spare off ebay, to be honest i haven't coded it yet but the key is correct and much better than the $400 german alternative.

just check the frequency and code and you'll be right.

geez that's expensive... had a key replaced for our 2003 nbc as the little chrome piece that you put on the ring broke off.. $120 for the new remote and they programmed it while i waited. took all of 30 seconds.

If its the same as the 2001 Model, then its 434Mhz

also the serial code should be:
    HLO 1J0 959 753 AG

You can find these details on your key fob, by pulling the top part (the bit with the buttons) off the bottom (the bit with the key). Just pull at either end but a bit of force, and they will separate in the middle. It will appear on back of the top part of the key fob.
