Often hard work pays off in the end. I am sure it will; but question is how much time and dough you are willing to spend on a car worth almost nothing (what, 15 G ?) on the market ?

Economy isn't such an issue for me - I mentioned it because it is a bonus after chipping, not THE reason for chipping. Maybe you should drive a TDI, if haven't yet, they can be very very good (one car particularly excels : the 3.0 TDI Audi allroad, but the 2.0 TDI golf is not bad with 320Nm )

I also know people who have gone the APR, REVO and MTM route who are also just as equaly happy.- because they don't know better! I had the APR trial before the GIAC, and although it is good , it is just not as good as the GIAC ! Period.

I just think (when making mods) some have a bigger ego than others, there's a fine line between practicality and hoonism ( is that a word ? ).

I don't want to put down a company or a brand, as the APR boys have been very nice to me and the customer service is second to none.
I recommend their services fully ( Dean from Volkspower is a great guy, he gave me free wiper blades for my Golf after loading the trial ! ); but this is my opinion and it is personal.

    Cheers

Timmey needs to send me it from Melbourne then I think i will bore the inside abit more to smoothen it and then powdercoating, after that it will be sitting in my garage till late April until it will be fitted

Also getting a few other parts aswell and I need to wait on them before I can start doing the engine mods, ie: Hose kit, power gasket, engine mounts and service

    Mate,

As you can tell, everyones got different views on which chips is better.
Usually they cost between $1200 and $1800. Depends who you go with.

For your first mod, its best to go with the chip because u get the most and this is something most on here will atest too. From there you can do smallers things such as:

Larger turbo inlet pipe (About $300)

    Lower intercooler pipe (About $250) {Golfs have a side mount intercooler}

Suspension: Coilovers cost about $2500 (KW brand which most people use here, i do)

Thats just if you want to build on the basic set up of the car as it comes stock.

If you want to go with a bigger turbo, the KO4 is the way to go. This setup including heavy duty clutch, limited slip diff, front mount intercool and full 3 inch exhaust will cost about $7000-$10,000.

If you want bigger, theres Dub20v's car which is an animal but alot of time effort, money and time spent off the road was put into it. But the results are awesome.

I hope that clarifies things for you. more than happy to take you for a spin in my car just PM me

I'm glad you clarified that this was based on your opinion only and that you had nothing to back up your claims with voiding the remaining part of the above dribble.

I'm saying this once for all - this is not the place to bring your chip wars to.
