Do you have Imparts over there? A darn site cheaper than the dealers and usually cheaper than ECS once you add their crazy shipping prices on.

You might want to contact ECS and ask about that postage calculation. There was a thread a while ago having a dig at their shipping prices, ECS got involved and I think some pricees were just web cal errors.

You could try German Auto Parts, they state they only charge the actual shipping cost, so you always have to email them for the real cost.

I actually had a long and unproductive chat with ECS recently attempting to work out how they calculate their shipping charges - ie. by weight, volume, throwing dice, etc.

If it's a website error, it has been around for at least 4 years.

An item weighing 100g, size of a bottle cork costs $50 to ship. Total pain and restriction, but it's profit for them, unless they think it's seriously inhibiting business, why change.

eBay or buy enough to offset the freight costs.

Not to hijack the OPs thread (into an ECS slugfest), but I used that one item as an example - my orders from ECS have included numerous parts in the past, but shipping has always been expensive, no matter how little or how much I order.

I generally look for alternatives these days - ebay uk/de, GAP, Imparts, local wreckers - even sometimes Solitaire here in Adelaide (gasp).

My website will be up around October . I tend to bulk buy from ECS and although shipping is still expensive it works out a bit cheaper when your buying $5-10K worth of goods each time . Biggest issue is that insurance still costs a fortune and I'll always have to add in order just to break even . At the moment the price structure looks something like retail + 30% . Some items more , others less .
