Exclamation rubber ring on aerial!!! HELP

    hey mk4'rs!!

you know the rubber at the base of the aerial that seals between the base of the aerial and the roof.Must the roof lining be dropped to change the rubber? or can you roll it down the top of the aerial?? maybe slightly warmed???

any help would be very appreciated!!!!

Yes. You get to it by removing the bit of headliner at the very back to replace it and or the rubber seal.
If you are replacing the whole beesting make sure you get the right plug on the new one as there are some different ones - from memory the plug type # is on the cable.

AFAIK you need to drop the roof liner - from what I have read it is a pain in the ass. Mine has been gone for about 12 months and no water has got in yet, if I ever do change it I will be putting in a GPS receiver to make it worth the effort.

You can do it without dropping the liner guys. remove the old one and spray loads of silicone on and it will snuggly fit over the base no worries done hundreds like that. Trust me fellas thats how you do it. I was feeling game one day when i was in the dealership and i think the thought of another headliner sucked. Tried it with the silicone spray and it goes on (kinda like a franga hehehehe) but seriously NO HEADLINER DROP REQD
