Reverse gear gone.

Hi guys,

Just encountered a problem with my MK4 gti. I drove in to the driveway at work and when I went to reverse out, the car would not find reverse. the shifter can be pushed down and left, but will not then go up into reverse.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to be stuck at work

could be minor (cable linkage) or major (shift tower assembly).

Linkage is quite visible if you remove the battery and air cleaner housing.
