Replacing lower control arm bushing for a Bora V5

Hi guys I just wanna ask if anyone has replaced the lower control arm bushings or the whole control arm?
I went to a mechanic today and he said that they normally replace the whole control arm and not just the bushings it self.
Would this be the convenient/hassle free job?
    cheers.

I know a few mechanics down here that just replace the whole arm.
The time it would take them to remove the old bushes and press in new ones + the bush itself was the same or more then getting a whole arm with bushes pressed in from factory. the arms themselves can be damaged too so if cost was the same id be going the new arm option

Yeah that's what I thought also. The mechanic said the same thing its just not worth doing the bushings. Can you recommend some
places around Sydney? I think its going to be cheaper to get the part from ebay and just pay labour to fit in.

I only know of camden gti in sydney.
otherwise have a crack at it yourself if you are going to buy the whole arms.
just need a jack, two car standard, some sockets, spanners and an alignment when you are done. only 5 bolts each side and as long as you dont touch anything else at the same time, do the bolts up to the right toque settings, youll be laughing

Tooley Imports in Hornsby will sell you complete arms. They supply parts to all the specialist independants in NSW.

If it's a manual, they're pretty easy. If it's an auto, you may need to lower the subframe for clearance.

Replacing the bushes would allow you to go with S3/TT ones, which are longer lasting/stiffer. I don't reckon they would be available in a replacement arm to fit the V5.
