    Wrecker will give you $400-$500.

    What colour interior & exterior?

hi mate, yes you're probably right, but i want him to come up to at least $1000 to cover the faulty trans i purchased from him. The exterior is silver and the interior is black leather.

The advice is to try and get a replacement transmission from the wreckers, that is for them to source another replacement used transmission to match ( very unlikely ) or a refund for the return of this one, but that would mean additional expense to remove and return, then i'm left with no transmission, and it's highly unlikely he would cover all this. So i am thinking the best scenario might be to try and get a wrecking value on the car from them, including the transmission and leave it there, otherwise this may drag out and become messy.
Another one bites the dust - RIP...
Before you make any decisions, maybe have a chat with Anthony (VWW handle - dubster99) He's in Adelaide, has plenty of MK4 experience, wrecks a few, buys a few for repairs to flip etc... He may even have a transmission. Don't know, but worth flicking him a pm.

A shame you're so far - I have V5 manual donor car here I'd sell cheaper than what you paid for that auto transmission

Hi beale187, thanks for your reply, and thanks for your suggestion to contact dubster99, I will send him a message now and see what he says. Pity about being in different states for sure, the manual box replacement could have worked out. I will hold off with any decisions for now, i was actually debating as to whether i took it to another trans mechanic for another opinion, but then thought it's more cost to check over everything again as well, I'm just hoping they diagnosed the fault correctly.

Might be worth a shot. Can they not make one good box out of the two you have?

Hi beale187, I think the mechanic that installed the transmission has already disposed of the old trans, i could double check though.
