    Removing air snorkel to put a 3" pipe in it's place - help please

    I've removed the snorkel connected up to the airbox.
    but there is no room for my 3" air intake to go down beside the battery.
    does this mean i have to permanently remove the back section to the head lights, where the factory air snorkel connects to?
    if so, how does this come off?

    here's a pic of it

    green arrows showing the direction of the factory air, the blue arrow showing where i want to put my 3" pipe, and as you can see there is no room.
    So do i just remove this back section? there are two tabs i can see where it is secured, i've circled one of them.
    i presume i just pop it off?

    i thought i have seen a BMC CDA install instructions for this, but can't seem to find it

    My car is under a cover at the mo, otherwise I'd pop the bonnet and have a look at those clips you mention.

    If they are plastic I believe (vaguely remember these clips elsewhere) that they have a seperate plastic centre like a cylinder. This needs to be popped out (from front to back),
    so that you can pull the clip out (towards the back of the car).

    If its all too hard and your not worried about damaging the clip, just pull it out or drill out the centre from the back of the clip and it should just pull out easy..

    You have to take the front bumper off(which is pretty easy)and take out the battery, Then there is a plastic sort of tray next to the battery which you can unclip. That's the piece that is causing problems. But from memory I think I broke it pulling it out : S haha. Also I think I took the headlight out too! Hope my rambling helps!

    From memory I took the bumper and light out as well. But I don't remember it being overly complicated after that. Just alot of bending and skinning knuckles getting that plastic piece out as one slots in behind another. Here is mine if it helps...

    i saw a post from manaz a while back which taught me that thing about punching the middle of the split pins out.
    took me about 2 hours to find the bloody third one!
    there was a cable in the way, i finally saw it when i took of the base of the battery.

    I didn't have to take of the bumper fortunately, though i did take off the wheel guard.

    was a much bigger job than i anticipated.
    even after removing the plastic panel with the three split pins, there was still a hard composite sort of plastic which i had to attack with the tin snips.
    Then i removed one of the horns, and relocated it, and i used that horn bracket to mount the end of my intake.
    Was soo hard to get it inside my air box though.

    I've opened up the venting that goes on here


    if you look closely you can see where i have hacked into the back of the headlight support





    so happy to be finished now.
    i took it for a spin, couldn't really feel a difference, though it is now getting 154g/s, before it was getting 150g/s.
    (in the morning, it was 24 deg ambient, and i got peak 150g/s with 65degrees intake temp, then after the mod it was 27 deg ambient, and 154g/s and 55 degrees intake temp)
    so not tooo bad for a cheap mod, even though it took a lot of time!
    just gonna have to be carefull with puddles........

    oh and if anyone can point me to a 3inch smooth pipe, rather than one like this which is corrigated, might be worth changing for better flow

    Looks the goods. Where did you get the bell mouth tip from?

    it came with my intake, which was $10 plus $20 postage from hong kong.
    probably not the best bell mouth, but better than nothing

    it was actually that brown cable to the left that was covering up the location of the third split pin for me, somehow was perfectly in line.

    thanks for that. i presume this is quite smooth inside?
    how do you actually order that, is qty 1, one meter?
