Random Problems... Suggestions please

I have been having some random problems lately:

• 1 in 50 starts the car cranks for about 2 seconds longer than usual before the car starts.
• Driving at low speeds and changing out of gear into neutral, the engine will start to stumble and then shut off. During the stumbling, I can presss on the accelerator as much as I want and it does nothing. Almost like there is no connection between pedal and throttle body. But everytime I can restart the car straight away and drive off.
• Cruising at speed and then decide to accelerate, the car will hesitate and then continue on as per normal. The hesitation is very minimal but you can definitely notice it.
• Finally, I still have the problem of the car jerking as if the engine mounts are stuffed when I feather the accelerator on and off. Also when I quickly hop off the accelerator pedal expecting the car to coast smoothly, the car feels like the engine wobbles back and forth. It is concerning when I decide to hope off the accelerator while cornering as its almost enough to unbalance the cars weight. Please note I have brand new engine mounts.

Also I have scanned the engine module in VAGCOM and I get no codes.

I have googled the crap out of these problems and the best I can come up with is the Engine Speed Sensor / Impulse Sender being faulty, but I have no codes... NO FREAKIN CODES.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a crank position sensor which might go on it. are you sure the battery terminals are clean and tight? Any needles dropping off the clocks?

Fuses at the battery, pretty sure they are powering some engine functions.

The position sensor for my car is 06A906433C, I am a little hesitant at the moment to change it because I should be pulling a P0322 error from the engine module. I find this part a little concerning, because it sounds like the car will still run with it not even connected.

In this thread (Excessive engine braking when coming off throttle? - 1.8t - Technical Help - Edition 38 Forums), the guy says in his last post he fixed his kangarooing because the speed sensor was not connected? But then he says he is splicing wires to solve the problem? I think he has a mk2 with AGU 1.8t.

Ill check the battery terminals today. and go fuse hunting at the same time.

No needles dropping off at all.

What would be symptoms of a dying fuel pump?

It will not run with the crank sensor disconnected . And you don't always need codes to diagnose cars.

Bit left of field - but how is your battery? When was it last changed?

I'm wondering if maybe you have a battery that isn't giving enough charge to your car.

The car had been running fairly well for a while now until today...

• Driving on highway at speed for 1.5 hours all is well.
• Then as I lift off the accelerator and then back on again (feathering 5-10% throttle), the engine seemed to hesitate before delivering the power. Jerky Throttle.
• As the journey goes on, the problem gets worse where it was taking longer and longer for the engine to respond to the throttle until eventually the engine failed to respond to the throttle completely.
• When I say failed, I mean when you press the accelerator to the floor in any gear with no response, just like the motor was turned off. Felt like some kind of limp mode.
• I rolled off the next exit and stopped where the car spluttered for a bit and then stalled. I restarted the car and it was now idling constantly at 1200rpm.
• Drove the car like a jerky bag of crap for a few km. Turned off the car and let it sit for a few minutes. I then restarted the car and it was back to normal.

That's my story, thank you for listening. If anyone has encountered a similar problem please let me know.

I have not replaced the the throttle position sensor yet, battery seems to be fine. I am reading other threads which is pointing to the ecu having to be replaced...

Can you do a throttle body alignment on it?

I have a spare CH ECU ecu with no tune in it, can we adapt them in your car? I forget the year. I am coming down the coast on Sunday.
