I believe it was around $20k to get it all up and running properly.

Unfortunately the "Bigdog" Twin Turbo doesn't fit on RHD at all...now THAT would be something.

JBS in UK now have a single turbo kit...there was one in last issue of Volkswagen Driver magazine fitted to a Mk V
That silver one has been sold that many times, sounds like they can't get the tune right. has been rebuilt at least once too.

The most impressive (and reliable from all accounts) is apmitchells MK5 R32 .

You will only very rarely be able to unleash 500+BHP. You can unleash the sound anytime.

Thats what a $1500 standalone with about 2-3k more for tuning is for...

It's the worst situation. You convince yourself out of it, saying that NA is "good enough"...but then despite your best judgement not to visit youtube you do so anyway, searching "R32 GOLF TURBO", and then it sparks up all over again!

Sometimes i'd just like to cry about it.

N/A would be a lot more fun if you had oodles of power and torque and you can plant it in any gear or anywhere in the rev range but it's pretty hard to get to that level.

Turbo is good fun when the boost comes on. Best of both worlds would be good with a turbo R32 but would end up costing a fortune and you could only sell it for the price of a stock car anyway. Best to put it towards a turbo car IMO.

    Bingo!
if it comes time to spend $10k on a turbo/supercharger conversion, its likely i'd spend the cash on another car, and keep the Bora a little less "unmolested".

That said, i'd like a piggyback ECU + cams + headwork

Schrick 268s are the favourite for road cams for VR6's.
If oyu are doing it NA may as well do it properly, big cams (276+), and the supporting work for it. A port and polish to suit a 268 or a port and poilish to suit 276, do it once properly. And if were really keen, ITB's. Search for Gareth Spiller's Vento on youtube
