    R32 Problem

Went for a drive on friday and was frightened with a stop sign in my cluster, saying to check my coolant, soon enough I arrived at the servo and saw that my coolant was leaking lyk a b*tch, let the car cool down then topped up with water, it still leaked the next morning when went for a test run, is this a problem I can fix myself cheaply and effectively or do i hav to muck around with VW service center's? Im guessing the pump has been disconnected (but i don't know much)

    Thanks

    Tom

The pump won't be disconnected mate.

Where is the coolant coming out of? Is it overflow, has the cap been fitted correctly, there's a rubber O ring in it and they sometimes get out of the groove and allow fluid through.

Could be a hole in the rad then. A trip to a mechanic would be my advice and carry some water with you until you get it diagnosed.

Could be a the radiator hose down the bottom on the engine side of the radiator fans.
When the R32s were first delivered this pipe went straight across and the fans actually hit the pipe causing it to go bust. There was a free recall done to replace the pipe with a kinked type that the fans did not hit. Might be worth giving VW a call to see if this has been done and if this is the cause of your coolant leek. They shouldn't charge you anything if this is the case.
I would've thought this would already have been done on all the Rs by now as from what I've heard the fans chew through pipe in about 1000kms or so.
    Cheers,
    Trent

Treza is correct in his assesment. The same thing happened to Graeme86, there were a certain number of cars in a particular VIN range that had the hose fitted incorrectly. If you speak to Graeme he will be able to give you the notice info from VW regarding it and the part number to replace the bottom hose.
