You don't exactly need the chip. From what I have heard you can fix the flat spot with a software update 3026 or something along those lines, have a look on vortex or Uk-mkiv's or maybe do a search on here.
Yep DO EEEEET!!!!!

Ok, maybe you need to find someone who works at a dealer that can actually verify this for the R32 so that you have some paperwork to show... not every person in any field is going to know everything![]()

Nah, the dealers in VIC are most likely not going to do anything.
It is like I just send my car back to fix the boot trim, (cause it was sold to me without a proper fit). asked them to check my HID lights too. And I said while u are at it, could you please get the dead flies out of the lens. he told me cannot be done?!
I am like... eh okay! no point asking them to do the software upgrade, cause I dun think they know about the upgrades and stuff. It is like they have never sold or seen a R32 before.
That update is not for the AUS spec R32's nor their ECU code it is for the UK cars that have different code and was a fix to the knock sensors that were to sensitive, the Aus spec ECU already had that update done to the code when our cars were built and it wasn't to fix the flat spot anyway.
The Australian spec R32 has different code in the ECU compared to both the EU and USA spec cars and you will need to get a flash from either APR, GIAC or one of the other dealers who make code for the car though I have no experience with any of the tunes other than APR or whether the others have specifically done a tune for the Aus spec ECU.
Cheers Al

If it's in the actual headlight I don't imagine it's something VW would do, not saying it can't be done but they probably should have suggested that you replace it or if under-warranty you could probably claim the seals are gone or I guess depending on how the fly's got into the lens. You can open it up but you need to put it in the over, or you could try remove the lamp from car and using some sort of suction method... a vacuum ???

Well Thanks for clearing up, looks like we might have to get 3rd party flash to fix the flat spot?
As for the flies in the lens, yeah right! in the first place how did it get in there, cause it was meant to be sealed! But car was sold like this to me, looks like most of the time, u just cannot depend on others to get things done.
But I was just highlighting how ignorant the techs at the VW dealers are in Aus. (well not all of them, i have heard of good ones). Or maybe because it is under warranty, so they are just trained/taught to not do anything which will cause the company more money. So wait till warranty is out, or if you make a really big fuzz, then serve you. (but i have an extended warranty for 3 years)
Anyway, giving it another try when they are installing the HID to make sure the light lens is sealed and dead flies removed. else DIY!
Friends also recommend me to bring it over to places like volks power to have the car checked, and get the dealer to fix everything up before I totally disband from them. (like "am not going back there for service")
Sorry about the whinning guys, please forgive me.
