    R32 Exhaust mod !

I have had the R32 exhaust modded to fit my Bora and it sounds awesome ! One of the places recommended weren't terribly helpful + Wasted money and the other place that had a much more can do 'attitude' was Mr.Muffler on Whitehorse rd who ended up doing the work for me.

A plus that I wasn't expecting is it seems to have more power more responsive especially with the flapper open.

Question, I can't see any vacuum pipes near the back, how do I go about adding a diverter in the engine bay + switch for off/on and which line should I tag off for the vacuum ?

With the flapper Closed it's still louder than the OEM and quite loud down low but similar maybe a bit more lively upstairs.

With the Flapper open, it is LOUD and it sounds the way a VR should ! I LURRRVVV IT ! Though I don't think I could leave it like that for long drives.

Pictures to come, for now I have one tip exiting where the stock hole is and the other is angled down, you can't really tell unless you know. I have the other tip and it has been extended but I need to get the valance J.B. welded before I go ahead.

i had my flapper disabled (left open) for about a 1.5 years now and i dont mind it at all. I went for a 1000km drive once and it wasnt noisy at all. it could be different on your car, since its a Bora, but disable it and see how you go. You can always put it back the way it was.
There was a switch you could buy for an R32 that deals with the flapper but it was too long ago. Im sure someone will tell you about it.

Yeh, on the Bora's, someone suggested that the floorpan resonate's noise and this might be the reason the Bora Sounds louder. In Any case, I am definately going to have the ability to turn it off on !

I did see some FAST switch's for sale a while ago, but I don't have any space to mount it, so I will have to come up with a more discreete location.

Have a look on Vortex in the MkIV R32 section for some how to guides on how to do this. Archive search should help find them. I've made one into a PDF if you want to PM me your email address I can send it to you. Biggest problem will be locating the correct control cable. Depending on how electricaly competent you are and how much you want to disassemble your interior it's not that hard.
I made up a switch and everything ready to do it but the cable runs down the passenger side and I didn't want to pull the entire dash apart to run the cable.
Not worried about it now anyway, just disconnected the flapper and have glorious sound all the time.
    Cheers,
    Trent

    Nice Dylan!!

I'm itching to hear your car.
I've wanted to do the exhaust but thinking of buying a house is putting me off spending more money on the car

Hey mate, any pics/sound video of the system? Wanted an R32 exhaust for some time. How is it different from the stock system? I can't seem to find any info on it.

Really, I only changed the muffler. The muffler has the two exits either side, I had to get the pipes extended and I am buying a rear valance to cut my own holes out of because at the moment one is just dump pipe.

I do have some vids but I need to post up, I haven't fitted the vaccum yet to control noise but meh if I go on long highway drives I just zip tie it closed otherwise it does annoy me.

That's where you need a narrow angle V6 motor to give that distinctive noise along with the exhaust.
