    R32 Bumper Questions

    Hey guys,

So I finally finished installing the FMIC over the weekend. Haven't had a chance to really test out the performance benefits, but to say I'm disappointed with the fitment would be an understatement. I guess that's what I get for just trusting that it would fit the car ok - lesson learned.

Basically, the piping on from either side of the cooler sits a lot lower than anything else I've seen either here or on Vortex, including in the DIY I followed. At the moment, my bumper minus the valance is on, but the fitment is terrible and I have pipes and the bottom of the cooler sticking on the bottom which is completely the opposite of what I wanted. The bottom of the bumper is actually sitting up on the piping on either side of the cooler

So I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea of whether an R32 bumper will give me more room around the front of the car, and therefore hide the FMIC and pipes. I've looked around online, found a few places in the US and one in Aus that sells them but no where gives me measurements so I can actually work out whether it will solve my problem or not.

Worst comes to worst I'll look at getting the piping modified or remade, but I've spent a bit of cash getting it all to fit as it is so I'm just trying to work out what my options really are.

    Cheers,

    Alex

the r32 bumper seems to sit a lot flatter at the front than the standard golf or bora one rather than angling back in at the bottom if that’s what you mean

i had a similar issue plus hated the standard bora bumper, depending on how much you want to spend what I did was buy a cheap r32 replica off ebay and got a panel beater to splice my bumper to the r32 bumper. The issue you will have with the r32 bumper is it doesn’t have rub strips like on other golf’s and boras so it will look odd if you don’t replace your back bumper then – unless you don’t care (plus i happened to like the look of the rub strips)

also doing this allows you to make the bumper go a bit lower (although a driveway nightmare) getting even better coverage of any cooling pipes and the intercooler and gives you the advantage of a lot bigger intake area on the r32 bumper for cooling the FMIC

i got the idea from this thread

    VWVortex.com - .:R32 Jetta?!!

    Here’s the finished product
