lucky JVLR32! I've had 2 go so far, bought 3 to replace the ones that I hadnt replaced yet and found that I only had one left that wasnt rev. N, so I have 2 spares now

VW Quoted me $75 for mine and when my mechanic did a quick ring around for me he said one of the after-market coils were up around $200....but not the OEM Bremi units

Ironically, in the US there is a coilpack recall and VW will eventually replace EVERY coilpack on EVERY R32 sold there for free.

Wonder if we'll have that here too? Would be interesting to hear if any other members here have had the same problem??

Maybe not, but VW are usually pretty good with recalls, or at least they were in the UK, i remember my 11 year old Mk2 getting recalled for its heater matrix! You never know.

Is there a prefered after market replacement coilpack like the MSD on Mk3 VR's or is it best to keep them stock on the Mk4 R32?

This wouldnt be the first time AU has missed out on recalls that were done in the US
