For some reason the front seats seem to have been swapped.
I'd be asking questions to find out why?
You might want to see if those seats have side airbags or not as i'm sure the original's should have.
Guys, im keen on this car but I find it strange that the front and back seats dont match. Should the cloth be on the front seats as well?

Yes, the front should have matching recaro's with red inserts.Guys, im keen on this car but I find it strange that the front and back seats dont match. Should the cloth be on the front seats as well?
Can't tell from the photo but those front seats may not even be GTI seats.

Did the earlier model GTI have airbags in the seats? You might want to see if those seats have side airbags or not as i'm sure the original's should have.
Mine does but it is the later Mk4 (02 model)
Don't know why but I tought the headlights didn't line up properly with the guard and the radiator support looks aftermarket but is hard to tell from the photo.

Yes the older models have airbags. My 01 build has them. They have the 'good' seats. Some later models were not Recaro.
As for the car in the ad they look like normal golf seats. I've seen some Recaros for sale here on the forum but not really cheap.
MK4 GTI - Sold
MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.
They look like the front seats out of a newer GTI. (Non Recaros which don't have the colour insert)
It's a bit hard to tell really but they look like mine, which is MY03 GTI, judging by the fabric colour and the shape of the headrests...

Paint job looks a lighter shade of red I think? The rear hatch is out of alignment with the bumper and paint looks a little dull too. My guess is crashed, sprayed, maybe the non original front seats went in to replace the torn front/s after airbag deployment (so replace with standard as a cheap fix) which would explain the mis-match...
on carpoint its only $8900

anyhoo i have a feeling its my brother's old car which was damaged and auctioned end of feb (which might explain the march reg). also, the damage was minimal fire damage to the front seats which would explain why the front seats dont match.
http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f23/...ion-41451.html
see, my brother got rear-ended by some victorian touareg driver. a few nights later 'someone' smashed the small window on one of the rear doors and threw a match or something in which must have landed on the bolster of the drivers seat coz that and the bolster on the passenger seat were the only parts damaged ...it was really minimal, just needed two new front seats and a rear bumper but justcar decided to write it off instead.
on the plus side for whoever buys it (if it is my brother's old car):
- it copped a brand new peloquin lsd, driveshafts and gearbox rebuild literally a month before it got burnt.
- it has kw v2 coilovers and matching kw front sway bar to clear the driveshafts
- it was bog stock, never modified or thrashed (bought it at 55 000km, dont know if the first owner had it boosted or anything)
- the stock wheels werent all that but those A8s look good
- the front and rear passenger side lock popped back up after it was locked from the inside with the lock/unlock button so if that was fixed its a bonus
- the rear bumper needed a respray before it was hit and obviously that has been replaced.
-the aerial seal needed replacing so if that has been done thats a bonus (we could never be bothered)
if all those things have been fixed then it would be a good buy for like $8k ..im tempted myself coz apart from the things mentioned above it was perfect. the way to tell if its my brother's old car is check the front passenger side guard for a small dent right on the lip.
i dont begrudge sam from merrylands for fixing it and selling it if he's honest about it but nonetheless i would ask that u keep to urself how u came by this information if u use it to haggle (IF it is my brother's old car).

I agree that they look like normal golf seats and also prefer the later model non recaro seats.Yes the older models have airbags. My 01 build has them. They have the 'good' seats. Some later models were not Recaro.

Mine have colour inserts (black with blue inserts). Also have another pair that are black with grey inserts. They look like the front seats out of a newer GTI. (Non Recaros which don't have the colour insert)
