Proud New Owner of a MKIV GTI

    Hey Gang,

Just picked up my GTI last night and I've gotta say I love it.

I used to own a 180SX type X with front mount, full exhaust and boost and as it was old and clocking up the km I sold it and for some reason thought a Jeep would be a good idea! Hmmm..... wrong.

Anyway so I bought a Jeep 10 weeks ago and it was just so big and such a guzzler that I had to find a car that would be fun, practicle, turbo and less than 8 years old and a friend at work directed me to this site.

So thanks to all of you for your help and all of the articles on here etc - It meant that I could go and look at cars armed with lots of knowledge.

I got a black 2000 model because I wanted the Recaro interior and sunroof.

I had it fully checked before I bought it and it was advertised for $18,000 but the guy had to sell ASAP as rego is due in 2 weeks so I offered him $15,200 and he took it! It's insured for $22,000.

And I've gotta say that in stock form I'm impressed with the power - esspecially off the line and around corners. Feels mush tighter than my import did and it had Tein coilovers!

So I'm really excited and now the only thing I have to find out is where I can get services etc in Sydney?

    Cheers!

Congratulations on the purchase. I have had my GTi for about 3 weeks now and I love it too.

That's a great price you picked yours up for. I paid 18,200 for my 2001 model, but it's only done 64,000 k's so I thought it was a good buy. How many k's has yours done? Plans for mods yet? If not I'm sure they won't be far away, hehe.

for both yourself and the other new owner. start saving for your mods now lol

Im sure you've read other threads and people have responded, get yourself a GIAC/APR/REVO chip, KW Suspension / Bilstein / H&R and im sure you'll be quite happy for quite sometime. Expect to pay about $1600 for a chip upgrade which for most takes you to the 140-145 at the fly wheel (approx 110-115 at the front wheels with cai and chip only) Suspension is about $1500 upwards depending on the setup of your choice, wether its coilovers or a spring/sport shock combo!
    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
