Procar GT Performance - Mk4 R32s at Phillip Island

Paul Stokell qualifying in the black (2003 season colour) Mk4 R32 - #21.

During this same qualifying session, Stewart McColl (the other R32 - #20) hit a bank near turn 4 and was killed, after qualifying 2nd to Stokell in pole position.

VW withdrew from the day's proceedings immediately - the front 2 positions on the starting grid were left empty for the three races.

Not really, it's just the only video online that I've managed to find as yet.

This video is low-resolution and low (and inconsistent) frame-rate - no doubt filmed on a circa 2003 digital still camera.

I'd love to see something of better quality... that'd be great 'qsilverza' - thanks!

Yes, unfortunately - there's a tribute to Stewart McColl on YouTube as well.

A chap by the name of Tim Leahey took over the reigns at a later date.

We owe some thanks to Paul and Stewart - because of their performances in the aforementioned Procar class, in the specially imported and prepared race R32s (for the start of the 2003 season), VW Australia subsequently confirmed on 21/7/2003 that it had secured and decided to import 200 road-going R32s for sale to the public. All 200 cars would be made during the month of December (2003) at the Wolfsburg plant in Germany for sale from the following February (2004).
