    might go a DV later down the track. but for now i kinda just want 2 try increase my induction noise a touch haha. ideally i would love a full intake kit. but i dont have the coins atm lol hence why i was planning to just go for $60 K&N... but im with "Blue_Reality" the thought of the pod sitting so low towards the ground is a big concern haha just the thought makes me nervous lol

    Do you know of any places that sell the AEM Dryflow pod filter in aust?
    there are heaps on ebay for about an avg of 50 USD but the postage is just as much which is a killer..

    For about $180aud you'd get one here from the states with filter second hand. New $450+ shipping.

    Just grab one of the chinese ones and a dry filter, your best option to be honest!

    Dont bother grabbing a K&N Panel, waste of money. 1kw difference and risk of stuffing yoru MAF isnt worthwhile. I tried both on dyno, and thats what i noticed! Stock is good suprisingly.. check this thread

    This always worry's me with regards to water being sucked up. I have seen some heavy rain and had to go through some serious puddles and I am pretty damn sure if my airbox had been down lower I would almost certainly have sucked in volumes of water, something to be wary of as the stock one is right near the top of the bonnet vent. Not worth the risk for 1 KW imho rather remove some weight much better

    might consider a 2nd hand or chinese version later down then track...

    realli liking the stock airboc CAI nice and cheap for me haha so ill prob do that

    As long as your intake has the ability to drain water away at some point, rather than being a straight path all the way into the engine, you should be OK.

    In that sort of setup, the water could get pulled up into the airbox, but as long as you have something that allows water to drain out of the airbox (and don't spend too long sucking water in), water shouldn't get sucked across into your engine.

    its all good.

    in order and give you some help on pricing
    $300 3" downpipe
    $45 3" cai tube into stock airbox as per above
    $220-140 Go Fast Bits (GFB) Plumb Back Diverter Valve
    $45-95 dogbone mount bush replacement
    $95-145 N75J valve (holds boost longer, electronic wastegate switch 'as say' you could call it)
    $800-1400 chip (giac, revo, apr)
    $20 mesh tt vent mod (behind intercooler, front of driver side wheel. refer to faq site above "Tt vent mod", allows more smic flow)

    exhaust is not necessary to change until your making some better power outputs, however thats up to you.. if you do hiflow cat is NOT needed!

    that should give you a break down on what to spend etc.

    suspension is a matter of choice and funding allowance..

    lucky i have very limited funds right now haha that list is tempting..
    but engine wise im just after some induction noise.. and possibly a better DV..
    im more of a looks person rather than performance.. doing too much engine work will encourage me 2 lose my licence ever quicker than just owning a gti will haha

    i will try find the tubing for stock intake setup this weekend.. seems pretty straight forward to do..

    after this its time 2 save for wheels and lowering.. but thatll be in a loonnggg timee and another thread for advice on susp.

    for the stock airbox intake setup, what are the chances of things going wrong? like in heavy rain etc.. seems like a more safer approach imo.. especially when i worry heaps haha

    you will be fine, just dont face it forwards is all.. it'll suck enough air behind the bar itself.

    Jono, i've driven through some substanial puddles and behind trucks etc throwing up volumes of water and the air filter is still dry, in fact, the water only comes a total of about 50mm up the tube.
