    Pod Filter

    Hey guys...

Just wondering if it'd be possible to fit a Pod Filter onto my 2001 Bora V5...

And what benefits I would have if I did do this.

    Thanks in advance

You looking at wanting to do a warm air or cold air induction?
A CAI will allow the engine to breathe better due to the air being colder etc. This will result in gains in power as well as better fuel economy. You will also notice a bit more induction noise which if you're lucky will be a good sound.
Power gains supposed to be no more than 10kW at best.
Fuel economy for my R has dropped in highway driving from 9.1L/100km to 8.8L/100km and city driving go from about 14L/100km to 12L/100km approximately.
A warm air pod filter as far as I'm concerned is a bit of a waste of time. You'd probably be better off investing in a high quality panel filter and maybe converting your stock airbox to a cold air type by running a big hose down a wheel guard or something from where the air comes in. This would create a similar setup to the BMC CDA intakes which I have.
Sorry this doesn't help answer whether or not you can do it in your particular car or how difficult/expensive it is to do.
    Cheers,
    Trent

Nah thanks heaps. That information or more than enough to help me decide what I want to do and whether it'll be worth it. It's always good to talk to someone who's done this sort of mod and can actually give some genuine feedback on whether it's beneficial or not.

I must admit though what you're talking about sounds very complicated and expensive (compared to the "go down to supercheap and buy one part and attatch it in under 1 hour" theory I had planned.. lol). Was it expensive and complicated?

Just be a bit careful - probably not as big an issue on a non-turbo car but quite a few years back I 'ignorantly' ran a Turbo RX-7 without the lid on the airbox.
It ran better most of the time but guess what? In summer the intake temps were SKY high (I measured them).
    End result - engine damage.
Granted, the underbonnet temps on a Bora will be WAY lower than a turbo rotary (i.e. no glowing red bits under there at night!) but still- be careful.

    Cold air is good air...
