    Pull out the pocket from above the radio. Gives a 2DIN opening, and much better access. Then lift up any tabs and you will be able to lift out that bracket no worries.

    Thanks for the info guys. What screw are you referring to? Also the original rubber that came with the VW headunit I can't use it on the pioneer as there is nothing on th eback of the pioneer that lets me plug it in.

    Also re the tray above radio, do I just pull it out with force?

    Take off the rubber knob on the back, unscrew the gold thread with an Allen key in the centre. Attach it to the back of the Pioneer. Not sure on the tray, but do not force it. YouTube might help.

    ok thanks. What is the rubber used for? Is it essential to use it?

    It supports the back of the radio, I would use it but it's up to you.
